Any type of art is attractive in its own way. Different kinds of art try to convey certain messages. But apart from its specific details, art is beautiful, and we use it to decorate the space. Here we wanna meet Abstract art, let’s go!
What is abstract art?
Abstract art isn’t about the specific depiction of visual realities. It’s about the effect of the art which is carried out by shapes, colors, and gestural marks. Abstract art is based on objects, shapes, figures, or landscapes in which they’re simplified.
This type is about figures like geometric shapes that don’t exist in external visual reality. Abstract art aims to reproduce an illusion of visible reality.
Abstract art, concrete art, non-objective art, non-figurative, or non-representational art are relatively similar terms but not exactly identical in meaning.
Abstract art’s main purpose is to imply concepts of order, purity, simplicity, and spirituality. Unlike realist art, abstract designs take more time and think to be deciphered.
In abstract photography, photographers use photographic equipment and materials to produce a visual image that doesn’t have an exact identical connection with the object world.
It also goes by names: non-objective, experimental, or conceptual photography.
A style of art that is remarkably out of the traditional form and values of art. Modern art was created in the late 19th and late 20th centuries.
Types of abstract art and paintings
There are several styles of abstract art which we will discuss in the following.
Here are 8 styles in abstract designs:
Paint splatter, drip, and splash
You can add excitement to your designs by using paint splatter images and drip texture. Artists in this style bring color and texture into a unified form and they produce a background for texts and logos.
Paint splatter type is an optimal option for posters and banners (on a large scale).
In color blocking, artists use two colors of high opposition on the color wheel to produce complementary color combinations.
For inspiration, you can look at the work of Dutch painter Piet Mondrian.
One of the earliest examples of abstract art is Suminagashi (the ancient art of Japanese marbling), dated back to the 10th C. As the name suggests, it’s about marbles.
In marble art, the artists put marbles that are covered in paint, in a box and shake it. The result differs every time. It’s amazing that you’ll never get the same result twice. You can use marbling style for backgrounds in stationary or website designs to add a more tactile sensation to your work.
Cubism is used to show maltitude viewpoints of an object instead of depicting it in a single viewpoint. To do that, they break the object and reassemble it in an abstract shape. (in 3D form)
In line art, abstract artists use continuous lines to make shapes and create perspective. Simplicity is one of its bold characteristics.
It can be used in icon or logo designing.
There are several factors that shape this specific style:
- Simple geometric shapes
- Flat colors
- Contrasting palettes
- Stylised graphic patterns
- Abstract squiggle
These are the main features of a Memphis design.
Organic abstraction includes the designs and arts that are made with rounded, circular, and wavy abstract figures (based on natural shapes).
In halftone art, dots (different sizes) are used to show the continuous tone of imagery. So, this process, using different sizes of dots in different spots, creates a gradient-like result.
There are many types and styles of artwork and we can use them to decorate our home, room, office, etc. but we should pay attention to some factors before using artworks for garnishing, and that’s the style.
